This article provides everything you need to know about detecting your heart rate effectively.

‘No signal’ or ‘Bad signal quality’ message on the screen during a screening.

Possible reasons:
- Skin dryness. What to do: moist a contact surface a little bit.
- Muscular activity. What to do: relax as much as you can, assume a comfortable position, relax wrists and don’t move during the measuring.
- No connection with the device. What to do: hold the phone closer to the device (recommended distance - 50 cm(19”), acceptable distance within one room is 1m (23”)).
- Jewelry may also cause interference and worsen the signal quality. What to do: take off the jewelry before the screening.

Screening doesn't start, I see "Prepare for screening" screen, and nothing happens.

Possible reasons:
- No connection with the device. What to do: hold the phone closer to the device (recommended distance - 50 cm(19”), acceptable distance within one room is 1m (23”)).
- Jewelry may also cause interference and worsen the signal quality. What to do: take off the jewelry before the screening.

Can't send a report after screening.

Possible reasons:
- no Internet or poor Internet connection. Please check your Internet connection and try again.
- invalid email. Please check that you've entered a valid email and try again.

The band does not react on tapping the metal plate.

Possible reasons:
- low battery. Please charge the band. Charge MAWI band only using the original charging cable provided with the device. Full battery charging may take up to 2 hours. The screen will display the battery charge level. When the device is fully charged you will see “battery full” indicator on the screen. Note, that it is completely prohibited to use the device while the charger is connected to the band. In case if the band is not reacting on tapping after the full charge (the screen doesn't show any indicators), please contact support team support@mawi.band."
- no Internet or poor Internet connection. Please check your Internet connection and try again.
- invalid email. Please check that you've entered a valid email and try again.

How to start screening for the first time.

1. Prepare for the screening: wear your band, sit comfortably and relax, try to stay still; Note: it is especially important to relax your arms to reduce the muscular noise.
2. To begin screening, open the MAWI mobile app. In the menu below choose ‘ECG’ option. On the appeared window tap the “Start Screening” icon.
3. With the finger of your other hand touch the metal plate under the screen and hold it until the end of the screening.
4. Blinking ‘ECG’ icon on the band screen indicates the beginning of the measuring. Indicator blinks every 2 seconds. Please keep your finger on the metal plate until the progress reaches 100%.

How to start screening in a Guest mode.

1. Put a band on a wrist of a person to be screened.
2. Open MAWI Health mobile app. In the menu below choose ‘Heart’ option.
3. Tap “Start Screening” icon.
4. Tap “Guest” icon.
5. With the finger of his/her other hand let the person touch the metal plate under the screen and hold it until the end of the screening.
6. Blinking ‘ECG’ icon on the band screen indicates the beginning of the measuring. Indicator blinks every 2 seconds.
7. After screening is completerd you may review filtered ECG, report, send report via email.
Note: screening report will not be saved in Guest mode.

Can't pair the band with another smartphone.

One MAWI band device may pair with only one mobile device. If you want to pair MAWI band with another smartphone, please Unpair it from a current one. Tap Device in the main menu of Mawi Health mobile app, then tap Unpair in Device settings.

Do I need an internet connection for using the app?

The app requires internet for: showing you report after ECG screening, sending the report via email, updating firmware version, synchronization Mawi Health app with Mawi band, updating your Profile and Device settings if you've changed them.
Note: stable internet connection is required for stable work of the app.

Can I measure Heart rate using band only, without Mawi Health app?

For measuring Heart rate, please:
1. Put Mawi band on your wrist
2. Place your finger on a metal plate under the screen and hold it.
3. Keep holding your finger(s). Heart rate measuring will start in 2 seconds. Blinking ‘Heart’ icon on the band screen indicates the start of the measuring.
4. Soon after (depending on a signal quality but no longer than 8 seconds) calculated data will appear on the screen.

How is Activity data calculated?

MAWI band calculates distance and calories burned according to the number of steps, as well as your weight and age, specified when you filled out Profile in the app. Date and time will update periodically when the band synchronizes with a smartphone. Distance, steps, and calories data reset to zero every day at 12:00 AM.
